What is monthly resource management?

Resource management is the practice of planning, scheduling, and allocating people to a project. It helps to oversee the use of resources available to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.

The monthly resource module is based on an individual's work-time equivalent (WTE) across a month and includes the ability to:

  • Track user team/role & availability
  • Request for and assign resources to specific projects
  • View resource utilisation
  • Forecast project resource costs. Note: this is separate from timesheets which focuses on actual resource costs.

There are 3 key Verto roles involved in monthly resourcing:

  1. Resource Requestor - Any member of the project team with Edit permissions can raise and submit a resource request.
  2. Resource Manager - The Resource Manager oversees their own team/job family resource allocations, rejections or amendments. A job family can either be a single role i.e. Project Manager, or it can be a parent to multiple roles i.e. ‘Delivery Team’ which groups together Project Manager, Business Analyst and Project Support underneath.  The Resource Manager will receive notifications and complete actions based on the job family they are responsible for.
  3. Resource Administrator - This is a super user role which has an holistic view of all resource requests and the the ability to progress requests on-behalf of a requester/resource manager. This individual also maintains the team/job families and band rates (creation of and updating).  This permission is assigned at the User Profile level.
