Resource management is the practice of planning, scheduling, and allocating people to a project. It helps to oversee the use of resources available to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.
The standard resource module can be set to work in either days, weeks or months and includes the ability to:
- Track user availability
- Request for and assign resources to specific projects
- View both team and organisational resource utilisation
There are 4 key Verto roles involved in the standard resourcing module:
- Resource Requestor - Any member of the project team with Edit permissions can raise and submit a resource request.
- Resource Administrator – This is a super user role which has a holistic view of all resource requests / allocations and the ability to progress these requests on-behalf of a Resource Manager or Tag Manager. The Resource Administrator will also receive any system generated notifications if Verto cannot identify a relevant Resource or Tag Manager. There must be at least one Resource Administrator on a site. This permission is assigned at the User Profile level.
- Resource Manager – A Resource Manager oversees their own team resource allocations. Resource requests for named staff within a team will be sent to the Resource Manager for review and allocation. This permission is assigned via the organisation chart which enables specific users to be marked as a ‘Resource Manager’ for other named individuals. Note: This role only applies if a site wishes to search for preferred users in a resource request.
-
Tag Manager – A Tag Manager oversees resource allocations for any users who have the tags for which they are responsible for. Resource requests for users with a specific tag will be sent to the Tag Manager for review and allocation. This permission is assigned at the User Profile level. Note: This role only applies if a site wishes to search for users based on preferred tags i.e. skill-sets.
