What is the scheduling mode?
When scheduling is enabled for the Gantt view, the plan data is drawn into a ‘bubble’ which then allows the user to add, remove or amend task and milestone data in a safe environment. Only upon clicking ‘save’ are the changes actually written back to the project. The user can cancel out of the scheduling mode at any point.
Only one project member can be in the scheduling mode at any one time. If a user tries to enable this mode whilst another user already has it open, they will receive a message informing them of that.
How to access the scheduling mode
To access scheduling, click on Scheduling in the top bar, next to Add Task.
Undo/Redo
To Undo or Redo any changes made to Titles, Start Dates, End Dates, or Percentage Complete fields whilst in scheduling mode, simply click the relevant buttons -
Decrease/Increase Indent (grouping)
To decrease or increase the indent of a task or subtask whilst in scheduling mode, click on the specific item so it becomes highlighted. Then click the Decrease Ident or Increase Indent to move.
You can also drag and drop tasks and milestones into groups.
Top Tip
- Any changes made to the Gantt whilst in the scheduling mode are project specific and will impact all project members when saved.
- Before adding a new governance report, it is important to check that the scheduling mode isn't being used by another project member. This can be done by looking to see if any tasks or milestones have a padlock symbol next to them. If a governance report is added whilst the scheduling mode is active, any changes made within that area will not be saved.
