Dashboard widgets are onscreen interactive tools that can be selected to display and filter data in a meaningful way. There are a number of options available for you to choose from:
Widget description
- Container - a great way to organise the information displayed in your dashboards. A container widget is essentially an empty box which can be used to define the filter(s) for all other widgets added within it i.e. set a filter to ‘Status = Red’ and then all widgets added into the container will only display red status data. You can also set up containers within containers which is useful when you want to organise your data within a category. For example, you could have a risk container with widgets containing information about all selected risks and inside that container you could add another container which filters down to another level, such as overdue risks only or key risks only or risks above a certain score.
- Data Table - a data table is an easy way to present a list of records in a simple view, similar to how you may be used to seeing data displayed in a spreadsheet or a Verto project table. You can decide what fields you want your table to contain as part of the set up process and these options can be changed later if needs be. Records contained in the data table are editable.
- Metric - these tiles are great for displaying a total or sum i.e. total number of overdue risks, total number of risks due in the next month and provide a visual snapshot. They can also be used to display total costs in financial dashboards.
- Pie and Bar Chart - a great way to display data in a visual way. Can be clicked on to reveal the underlying data tables i.e. click green bar to reveal list of green projects.
- Text - a static text box which can be inserted onto the dashboard to provide instructions, context etc. This is not linked to any data. These can also be used as block colours to create sections on a dashboard.
- External Report - this will allow you to link to another data source i.e. PowerBI. As long as the data you want to link to is available in a public space and you have access to the URL, this can be linked to the dashboard.
- Calendar - will display all tasks, milestones, risks, issues etc that you are on owner of based on their review date. This can also be set to display your Outlook calendar meetings (subject to extra site permissions being applied).
- Network - will display an editable network map view of any VertoSense links.
- Matrix - depending on site build, this widget can display risk, issue or stakeholder data in an clickable/drilldown matrix design.
- Gantt - can display either a single project or a consolidated programme view of tasks and milestones. The top-level task and milestone bar illustrates the length of a project based on the earliest start date and the latest end date of a task or milestone in the plan. This view can be expanded/collapsed and drilled into.
- External Link - can be used to insert links to intranet pages, guides or external pages.
- Stages - will display a set of metric tiles to illustrate the lifecycle(s) stages within the site. Each tile will contain the number of projects within the stage and can be grouped by internal status i.e. draft, awaiting approval.
- Approvals - will display any items requiring your approval.
- Image - this widget supports the storing and displaying of images, logos etc on the dashboard.
